Why Wi-Fi Connected Thermostats Are an Excellent Idea

Monday, August 29th, 2016

Take a moment to look at the thermostat (or thermostats if you have a multi-zone comfort system) in your home. Is it a manual model with sliders and dials? A digital thermostat without any extra programmable features? Or a standard programmable thermostat that allows you to set when the HVAC system will turn on or off?

Why You Should Have Zone Control for Your Home

Monday, August 22nd, 2016

What is a zone control system? It’s a way to divide up your home into different heating and cooling “zones” that can have different temperatures than other parts of the house. The standard central heating and cooling system is an “all or nothing,” so that when the furnace, heat pump, or air conditioner turns on, the heated/cooled air travels through the ventilation system to each of the vents. If your home has hots spots during the summer when the AC is running, you can do something about it. HVAC professionals can help find out why you’re receiving uneven heating and provide solutions that will help evenly distribute cooling throughout the house. Below are some of the methods to get rid of hot spots. (more…)

Why Does My AC Keep Tripping the Circuit Breaker?

Monday, August 1st, 2016

It’s the middle of a hot day, and suddenly the air conditioning system that’s keeping your home cooled down and pleasant shuts off. You go to the circuit breaker panel to check on it (something you should always do whenever a large appliance in your house stops working) and find that the breaker for the AC has tripped. You reset it, turn the AC back on… only to have the circuit breaker trip again not long afterwards. And it happens again and again.
