*Comfort Central concentrates on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) but being Building Science oriented we may at times need to rely on our Strategic Alliances to bring you the best in home comfort.

Boilers and Radiant Heat: When you think about boilers and radiant heat systems, you think warmth.  Providing true even comfort, those who have or have had these systems, know that for long term comfort, these systems do last, seemingly forever.
The boilers and radiant systems of today, are extremely efficient.  Some up to 97%. We also have the ability of converting some older steam systems to hot water so you can take advantage of the higher efficiencies.  Add an Indirect Water Heater and save even more and never run out of hot water again. The system will pay for itself many times over.  And if appropriate, add solar and save even more.
Comfort Central prides itself on its knowledge and experience of these specialized systems.  Very few companies here in Western North Carolina can claim this distinction.  For your next repair or project, call us first, we feel confident it will be the  only call you make
.

Furnaces: Today’s Heating Systems offer much in the way of comfort options and energy efficiencies.  These systems are not the same systems available 15 years ago.  Able to adapt, these systems are able to keep you comfortable, regardless of the temperature outside.  No longer do you have to suffer through a simple On/Off appliance.  Today’s systems have multi stages of heat, some even modulating heat utilizing Variable Speed Motors.  What this means to you, utilizing only the amount of fuel you need to be comfort.
Add a Heat Pump and utilize what we term Duel Fuel (or Hybrid Heat™).  Because energy costs fluctuate, being able to utilize the most economical heat source to meet your comfort demands, you win.  (And a heat pump cools and dehumidifies in the summer!)

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): A term that encompasses many aspects and often leads to much confusion, even among Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Professionals.  That is one reason why we here at Comfort Central adopted the terminology of Indoor Environmental Needs.
On the surface it is offering appliances and/or equipment to treat allergy symptoms, low humidity in home (itchy eyes, static shock), excessive dust and even dehumidifiers.  We have some great appliance options that offer much in providing comfort to symptoms you may experience from asthma or allergies.
But the truth of the matter is, sometimes it is like putting on a band-aid to treat a symptom, when oftentimes providing a cure is way more beneficial, has a much lower cost of ownership and when the plan has been implemented,  usually results in Energy Savings as well.  How would you like to implement a plan that actually may pay you back for the life of your home?
Indoor Air Quality should look at your whole home and building to identify areas that are actually contributing to the pollution in your air, and oftentimes these problems also affect your comfort, as well as are contributing to high utility bills.
For an Example:  One of the simplest and often most overlooked is fixing, sealing and insulating ductwork that runs through a crawl space or attic space.  This repair only has to be done once, requires no maintenance, can last the life of your home or building, and as Department of Energy Studies point out, can save you up to 46% on your energy bills.  The Indoor Air benefit comes from not having to share and breathe the air from your crawl space or attic.
Feel free to call us with any questions or concerns regarding your Indoor Environment.  We have seen firsthand how treating the Whole Home or Building as a system improves not only comfort, and saves on utilities  but also improves your quality of life.  We are excited to be able to offer you this level of service

Specialty Systems
: The term does imply the meaning.  With all the options available, it is extremely hard to come up with a list of all the systems we provide.  Certain applications require think-out-of-the-box solutions.  Other systems are considered Specialty due to complexity.  Rest assured, Comfort Central is dedicated to completing full and complete design, installation and service for these systems.  And as always, we offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
CITY MULTI™:  This is a manufacturer specific product, it’s application is wide and diverse.  It falls under the category of Specialty Systems due to complexity in utilizing the differing components for specific space requirements.  As it has wide applications, we are proud to offer this option.

DUCTLESS MINI-SPLIT:
Ductless Mini Split System are split system solutions that provide many benefits.  They are a highly efficient in scalability, flexibility, and energy management.  When compared with traditional split systems, they provide great ability to add simple zone control so you can condition the air in the areas you use most but still have ability to heat or cool other areas as needed.   Because it does not utilize traditional ductwork, you have no energy efficiency loss that often occurs in long duct runs or with ductwork running through attics and crawlspaces.  Another benefit is the wireless, simple to use controls.  And these units are extremely quiet.
Whether you are looking to add a ductless mini split system to increase usable space, or to achieve unparallel comfort to your home or office, the technology of this inverter driven system is highly responsive and efficient.  It uses smart technology to constantly monitor and measure the load for a specific zone, and adjusts to ensure you are comfortable as opposed to the traditional split systems that are either full “ON” or “OFF.”
And if the Energy Efficiency and Efficient operation are not enough, it is extremely compact, has fewer components, utilizes Eco Friendly refrigerant making these units an excellent consideration for those who are concerned about our environment.
These units provide excellent solutions for server rooms or other rooms that you need to be assured of temperature and humidity control.  Available in both Heat Pump and Air Conditioning only models, you can select the unit that best fits your needs.

GEO-THERMAL: Due to Income Tax considerations, Geo-Thermal Systems  are very popular today.  They are wonderful systems but do not fit all applications for installation.  The site-analysis becomes extremely important, as we now not only need to take into account home or building but the geology of the site, and fluid medium as well.  Geo-Thermal utilizes ground temperatures that are more constant than air to condition air for heat or cool that is provided into your home. As such they provide lesser temperatures to overcome than traditional systems referred to air source.   Geology of site does add components of unknown, especially here in our mountains with their 7 active eco zones:, but, you must also understand that it requires pumping water or fluid through earth system and it is this component that not all contractors who are certified and sell Geo-Thermal systems understand.  Currently, in North Carolina (NC) (nclicensing.org), to install a Geo-Thermal system you must process a H3 license(issued to air source contractors.)
Due to the nature of the system, we disagree.  The contractor should hold a H1 (fluid source)  and H3 (air source)  license.    Our service and repair of existing Geo-Thermal systems, we are witnessing installations that were not ideal.  This is an important consideration, because you only have one chance to get the loop field correct, at a minimum you want a contractor who is International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) certified, has a North Carolina H1 and H3 license.  I know this language departs from the rest of our website, but H3 and manufacturer certification is not enough to maximize the benefits you will get from this type of system.  In addition, if only one (1) contractor tells you it is not a viable application for your home or property (with demonstrated reason,) they know something others do not and the advice should be heeded.  This is a specialty system, it’s  application may not apply to you.

HIGH VELOCITY SYSTEMS:  are a special application intended for very specific applications.  They are ideal for historic renovations, where maintaining historic integrity is ideal while adding comfort and dehumidification.  Because they utilize 2” ductwork, we are able to run the ductwork to areas that a traditional system could not reach without damaging architectural integrity of the historic site.

REVERSE CYCLE CHILLERS:  In contrast to Geo-Thermal, it utilizes fluid for heating and cooling but is an air source system.  Confused?  Eliminate the ground loop and geological concerns and utilize metrics available at your disposal and your control.  This system utilizes radiant heat and fan coil cooling, the optimum in providing heat, cool and dehumidification.  It’s true Efficiency rating is still being evaluated, but this technology is extremely promising to meet a wider variety of applications that may not be viable for Geo-Thermal.
